Testing & Inspection

Testing and inspection of all systems have become an important part of the industry
Commercial, Educational & Industrial properties, Managing agents, Insurance companies, landlords, home buyers & sellers are all connected with the various checks required.
Please see below the various tests that SGE can provide:-

1.       Electrical Condition Reports formally known as Periodic Inspection Reports
Having attended the NICEIC workshop on the first amendment 2011 of IEE wiring regulations BS7671 SGE are completely up to date in what’s required for Electrical Condition Reports.
SGE currently carry out these condition reports for a number of Property Managing Agents, Estate Agents, Landlords and Domestic customers. SGE will record and set a reminder for when a re-tests are due in the form of an email or letter a month before it’s due. SGE will also take meter readings for the managing agents free of charge whilst on sites.
The persons responsible for the installation will receive a signed hard copy of the report also and SGE will keep a PDF version stored on the system which can be reissued at anytime.

The frequency for the above report is normally

  • 5 years for an existing installation (electricians discretion)
  • 10 years for a new installation

 

SGE’s cost for this service is:

  • £180.00 + VAT per single phase distribution boards & circuits.
  • £210.00 + VAT for three phase distribution boards and circuits.

 

All reports are followed up with quotations of any recommended works (if any) and a laminated fuse board chart so that future contractors can clearly identify circuit isolation.
Any observation or test earning a Code 1 will either have to be immediately rectified or isolated at the customers cost.

2.       Visual Condition Reports
SG Electrical Visual condition reports are recommended prior to having any major installation works carried out i.e. consumer unit change to verify whether protective conductors are in place and equipment is not in a dangerous condition. This report is a written report where a copy is sent via mail to the customer.

SGE’s cost for this service is:

  • £60.00 + VAT based on a property no larger than a 4No bedroom house

 

Any recommended observations will be followed up with a quotation.

3.       Emergency Lighting Completion Certificate and Periodic Inspection Report.
SG Electrical has a great deal of experience in servicing commercial and landlords emergency lighting systems and have also attended the NICEIC emergency lighting & fire alarm workshop.
When taking over an emergency lighting service contract, the building is supplied with a new log book, and folder where the emergency lighting periodic inspection reports will be held with various safety procedures. This also contains instructions for the end user. Test frequency should be 6 monthly alternate 1hour & 3hour tests.

SGE’s cost for Emergency Lighting Periodic Inspections & Testing are as follows:

  • SGE’s cost for a 1hour test is:         £50.00 + VAT
  • SGE’s cost for a 3hour test is:         £100.00 + VAT

Completion Certificate
SG Electrical has a great deal of experience in installing commercial and landlords emergency lighting systems and we have also attended the NICEIC emergency lighting & fire alarm workshop.
All new emergency lighting installations are accompanied with an emergency lighting completion certificate, new log book photometric data and folder where the emergency lighting periodic inspection reports will be held with various safety procedures. This also contains instructions for the end user. Test frequency should start 1No year following installation then 6 monthly thereafter 1hour & 3hour tests.
The cost of this certificate is inclusive of the installation quotation.
The persons responsible for the installation will receive a signed hard copy of the report also SGE keep a PDF version stored on the system which can be reissued at anytime.

4.      Fire Detection, Alarm System & Smoke Vent Acceptance, Commissioning, Design, Inspection & Servicing, Installation, Modification & Verification certificates (Commercial & Industrial).
SG Electrical has a great deal of experience in installing commercial and landlords fire alarm systems and we have also attended the NICEIC emergency lighting & fire alarm workshop.
Fire alarms require documentation for every action as you can see above on the subtitle which list the actions.
SG Electrical are experienced in the requirements for Fire Alarm installations. All new Fire Alarm installations are accompanied with the relevant certificates, new log book product data and folder where the inspection & servicing reports will be held with various safety procedures. This also contains instructions for the end user.
Inspection & Servicing
Fire detection systems require a high level of attention. Our current request is a 6 monthly service where SGE inspect 50% of the installation alternately but the percentage of test can increase and decrease to the clients discretion. When taking over a fire alarm service contract the building is supplied with a new log book, and folder where the fire alarm inspection & servicing reports will be held with various safety procedures. This also contains instructions for the end user to test weekly.

SGE’s cost for a 25% Fire Alarm inspection & servicing report is:                     £50.00 + VAT + Material
SGE’s cost for a 50% Fire Alarm inspection & servicing report is:                     £85.00 + VAT + Material
SGE’s cost for a 100% Fire Alarm inspection & servicing report is:                   £125.00 + VAT + Material

Report prices above are based on a landlords area or small to medium commercial, industrial outlet. List of standard repair costs are available on request.
Smoke Vents are checked inclusive of fire alarms services.
